Sleep Paralysis (2019)

Class: CTPR 285: Lateral Thinking in Filmmaking
Assignment: Depict an Emotion
Description: I wanted to capture the anxiety one feels when experiencing sleep paralysis, however my primary goal was to portray the vision of the artist being corrupted by the mainstream. The silhouetted figure is illuminated by green to represent the corruption from the outside, and the red around the dreamer is meant to symbolize the vision he wants to hold onto. The randomized imagery is his own vision which will soon be lost. The silhouetted figure chokes him out of his own vision, forcing him to subscribe to another. The silhouette is revealed to be himself, showing how all the while he thinks it’s someone else who is corrupting him, it was ultimately him that gave way to something he didn’t want to be a part of.
